How do I register for a new Library card?

Visit this link and complete the registration form. You'll have to visit us in person to finalize the account setup process which includes showing your ID and/or proof of residency and collecting your new Library card. Library cards are free for Hooksett residents, property owners, employees, and SNHU students. All others require an annual fee.


I’m trying to login, but it keeps asking for a password. I don’t think I set one up.

If I can’t find the title I’m looking for, can I suggest the Library purchase a title?

Can we host a private party (birthday, shower, etc.)?

Yes – Hooksett residents may request to use a meeting room for a private party such as a birthday, bridal or baby shower. These events will require approval from the Library Director ahead of time, and there is a room-specific rental fee (see table below) and a $25.00 cleanup fee. Please note the Library only allows a limited number of private parties (around two per month), and this service is NOT available for non-residents.

I need access to the internet. Where can I find WiFi?

WiFi is always available in-house and in our parking lots around the building! The signal is strong; the WiFi network name is "HooksettLibrary - Public" and no passcode is required to access.


Are there any fees to use the rooms?

It depends on who you are and the type of event. Hooksett residents, local organizations, town/government agencies, and NH Library groups and associations can use the meeting rooms for free for regular meetings. Non-residents will be responsible for a rental fee based on the room and length of use (see table below). Private personal events (like birthday parties or baby showers) always include a fee and cleanup fee (see table below) and require special approval from the Library Director.

How can I renew the materials I have out?

No renewals are needed at this time. We have set our system to automatically renew any items that are out, and we will not be charging overdue fees while our building is closed. 


How do I reserve a room?

You can reserve a room by using our online meeting room request form to begin the room booking request process. The individual booking the room will need to agree to terms of use and must be present during the entire meeting. Remember to include any setup or cleanup time you’ll need when making your reservation.

Can our meeting extend beyond the Library’s posted opening or closing times?

No, a meeting cannot extend beyond the Library's closing time, nor occur before the Library's open hours. Meeting rooms are only available for use during the Library's normal operating hours. In addition, all meetings must adjourn 15 minutes prior to the Library's posted closing times.

How many rooms can I reserve for my meeting?

Room requests are restricted to single rooms, each of which has its own occupancy limit. The Library reserves the right to assign the room that accommodates the anticipated use and size of the group.

How far in advance and how often can I book a room?

You may book a meeting room up to 90 days (about 3 months) in advance of your event. To ensure fair access for everyone, each person or group can reserve a room no more than five times in a single month.

How often can meeting rooms be booked?

To ensure equitable access for the community, the Library has established specific limits on how frequently meeting rooms can be booked:
  • General Frequency: No group or organization is permitted to reserve a room more than five times in a single month.
  • Advance Booking: Reservations cannot be made more than 90 days in advance.

Can I call to reserve a meeting room?

To reserve a room, an individual must submit an online room reservation request. The person who submits this request must agree to the terms and conditions, must be present for the entire meeting, and is personally responsible for ensuring the group complies with all Library policies. This responsibility is not transferable.

Yes, we accept book donations during the Library's open hours. Please note that we only accept gently used books that are in sellable condition. Feel free to contact us before you come so that we can meet you at the Library's back entrance where we can help you offload your donations. Thank you for thinking of us!


Can I book a room for same day use or with only 24 hours notice?

Yes, room booking requests for same day use are acceptable, contingent on the room availability. The exception to this would be room requests involving private parties, etc., which require special review and approval.

Do you offer digital books and magazines? How do I get started?

You can find detailed instructions for getting started with these apps on HooksettLibrary.org under the “Reading” menu on the navigation bar.

Digital books and magazines are available through the Libby app. Digital books (excluding magazines) can also be accessed via the CloudLibrary app, which is exclusively available to Hooksett and GMILCS patrons.

*Many of you are already familiar with Libby because she’s so popular, but now is the perfect time to get acquainted with CloudLibrary because the holds lists are often much shorter!
